Lan Hoang is a doctoral student of the Department of Educational Policy and Leadership (EPL) at SUNY Albany and Doctoral Research Associate at PROPHE. She completed her M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from SUNY Buffalo in February 2010 under the Fulbright Foreign Student Program. She also holds a Master in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
Lan Hoang participated in the early development of the Fulbright University Vietnam (FUV), Vietnam’s first independent, nonprofit university, built upon more than two decades’ legacy of the Fulbright Economics Teaching Program (FETP) in Ho Chi Minh City. Lan directed academic affairs at FETP before becoming an EPL doctoral student while still advising the Fulbright University Vietnam leadership on a range of matters, including regulatory compliance and accreditation.
Her current areas of interest include the evolution of the private sector and its role in reshaping the landscape of higher education (HE), HE institutional development as incentivized/disincentivized by public policy and in the context of the internationalization, and the impact of the diversification of HE providers (the appearance of more private providers and the commercialization of public providers) on students’ college choice and access.
